Frequently Asked Questions
+ How long have you been practicing yoga? How did you begin?
My yoga journey began in February 2015. You can read about my story here!
+ What kind of yoga do you practice?
I try to practice different styles of yoga when I attend studios. My personal home practice though is mostly Vinyasa Yoga - a type of yoga that links the breath, movement and postures together. It's quite dynamic - you flow through sequences and postures without holding any posture for longer than a few breaths. I've found this style appeals to me the most because it requires the mind to stay focused in the present to be able to keep up. Focusing keeps you from drifting off and helps you to be present in your body rather than stuck in your head. I also love the freedom and creativity that comes from the Vinyasa sequencing - every single class is different!
+ What kind of yoga classes do you teach?
My training is in Vinyasa Yoga which forms the foundation of my teaching. I've also studied other styles such as Power/Hot, Yin and Gentle + Restorative. My anatomy and bodywork experiences tend to find their way into my teachings as well. I intend to offer a practice that is balanced, safe and playful. I believe encorporating meaningful sequences and themes are essential in order to infuse a class with purpose and intention.
+ Where are you based?
+ Do you teach private yoga lessons?
Yes, I do, and I believe that is the best way to address specific needs and build a practice that will serve you. I teach in Oregon and travel to other places depending on location. I also teach private yoga classes online, which you can learn more about here.
+ How can I start yoga?
I wrote a blog post on this topic, you can read it here!
